April 25th is Anzac Day, a day to commemorate and honour our past diggers and modern service members. This year, commemorate and remember with your loved ones and your community from home, at traditional dawn services, or privately.

    The Date

The Spirit of the ANZACs collections aim to provide a contemporary context to the values and strengths associated with our first diggers. Explore the collection here.

Established to commemorate the landings on the Gallipoli Peninsula on the beaches that became known as Anzac Cove, Anzac Day is the most important commemorative day in the Australian calendar. Honouring those who have served in the past and today and remembering the sacrifices, courage, and mateship of those brave souls who landed on foreign shores that fateful day in 1915.

Communities come together for dawn service, organised at the Saunders Beach front.

    Dawn Service

For many, a Dawn Service at your local cenotaph or RSL is the way that your family and community commemorate. Honouring those who have served throughout our history and on into our future. A time to reflect in the quiet and peaceful moments of the morning, remembering servicemen and women from across the services and honouring their sacrifices.

In the trenches, Two Up was usually played in rest areas safely away from snipers and was the digger's relaxation and chance to forget the realities of life in the trenches. Gift a memory of their spirit to play and display.

    Two-Up

A popular game with our diggers in World War 1, and now only legal to play in pubs on Anzac Day, Two-Up is a beloved tradition for many on April 25. From pubs to RSLs, games of Two-Up are organised across the country, paying tribute to our servicemen and women, and the traditions of our first diggers.

However you commemorate, Anzac Day is the time to reflect and honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

Recent Traditions: Light Up the Dawn

Since 2020, how we commemorate has changed. Light Up the Dawn has been a special way to commemorate and show respect at dawn on April 25 since the community movement began in 2020. As restrictions have eased, Light Up the Dawn has become a wonderful call to bring communities together at home or traditional cenotaphs and dawn services. Now supported by RSL Australia and throughout each state, light up the dawn this year and show your support.
