The 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, marks the time originally associated with remembering those who served and died in World War I.

Expanded now to mark an important day to remember those who suffered and were killed in all wars and armed conflicts, today is an important day for Australians and others around the world.

Originating on the 11th of November 1919, to mark the first anniversary of the armistice, Remembrance Day has become an anniversary associated with commemorating the enormous sacrifices of the servicemen and women who have suffered and died through conflicts and wars.

The one-minute silence, taken today at 11 am, is a time to pause and reflect for all Australians on the sacrifices made and honour our servicemen and women who have died in the service of Australia in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. It is a significant moment of respect and reflection for all Australians to remember those who have served and continue to do so in our Defence Forces.

While challenging circumstances have impacted us all this year and affected how we commemorate today, if you can this year, please get out and support veterans in their fundraising efforts to help organisations continue to work supporting our veterans and their families.

Commemorate those who have served and continue to do so this Remembrance Day and help make a difference.

Australians from all walks of life have served this nation with gallantry and sacrifice and today we remember the servicemen and women who have served in all wars and conflicts. At 11 am today we pause and take time to remember their sacrifice.

Please join us in honouring their service.

    We Will Remember Them.
