Q.   Were the Anzacs fighting all the time?

A.   Fighting at Anzac was not continuous. The major periods of fighting were in late April and into May 1915, culminating in the major Turkish assault of 19 May 1915, and in August 1915. For the rest of the time, while service at Anzac was dangerous and life threatening, there was no ‘fighting’ as such, with military activity confined to artillery shelling, bombing and sniping.
