    A Pivotal Role: The Australian Defence Force in the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla

    The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla marked a significant chapter in history, with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) taking centre stage. Distinguished ADF members Corporal Daniel Keighran VC and Keith Payne VC formed part of the Order of Chivalry procession, symbolising the ADF's integral role in this monumental event.

    Approximately 40 ADF soldiers, sailors, and aviators joined the 600-strong Commonwealth assembly in the Coronation Procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. This contingent, representing nearly 40 nations, had Australia proudly leading, highlighting the strong ties between Australia and the United Kingdom.

    The procession, showcasing the event's grandeur, had the Commonwealth contingents marching alphabetically, with thousands of British troops following. The ADF contingent ended the occasion with a final salute to the newly-crowned King and Queen in the Buckingham Palace gardens, a moment of pride and honour.

    The ADF's active participation in the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla speaks volumes about its stature in the international military landscape. Australia's presence at this high-profile event underscores the nation's commitment to fostering strong relationships with fellow Commonwealth countries.

     As we move forward under the new reign, the ADF's contributions to the Coronation remind us of its global prominence and unwavering commitment to the Commonwealth. The strong ties between Australia and the United Kingdom are further reinforced, setting the stage for continued collaboration and shared success in the years to come.

    While we welcome the reign of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, we pay homage to Queen Elizabeth II's impactful reign. Her role as Commander-in-Chief resonated deeply within the ADF and across the Commonwealth.
