In 2023, the Royal Australian Regiment (RAR) stands tall and proud as it celebrates an incredible milestone - its 75th Anniversary. This remarkable occasion marks a journey of dedication, valour, and unwavering service that spans generations. From its humble beginnings in 1948, the RAR has emerged as an emblem of honour, embodying the essence of Australian military tradition.

Established in the aftermath of World War II, the RAR was born out of a vision to forge a unified force capable of defending Australia's sovereignty and interests. Over the course of 75 years, this vision has evolved into a legacy defined by the regiment's commitment to duty and its enduring contribution to global peace and security.

Throughout its illustrious history, the units of the RAR have been deployed on operations across the globe, leaving an indelible mark on the world stage. From the rugged terrains of Korea during the Korean War to the dense jungles of Vietnam, the RAR has demonstrated its mettle and resilience in the face of adversity. The regiment's participation in conflicts such as East Timor, Iraq, Afghanistan, and various humanitarian missions underscores its versatile and adaptive nature.

The RAR's commitment to global peacekeeping has seen its soldiers stand side by side with their international counterparts, fostering strong alliances and contributing to stability in regions affected by conflict. The regiment's operations in these diverse theatres reflect its adaptability, discipline, and dedication to upholding Australia's values on the world stage.

As the RAR forged its path through history, it did so under the watchful gaze of monarchs who have left their mark on the annals of time. The regiment's journey began during the reign of King George VI, whose crown symbolizes the formative years of the RAR from 1948 to 1952. It was a period of transformation and growth, laying the foundation for the decades to come.

Under the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the RAR continued to evolve, with soldiers serving under the banner of the RAR's insignia adorned by the Queen's Crown. From 1952 to 2022, the RAR demonstrated its unwavering dedication to duty and its unyielding commitment to the nation's defence.

Looking ahead, the RAR finds itself on the cusp of a new era, entering into the reign of Charles III. This transition symbolizes the regiment's enduring legacy, transcending generations and reminding us of the continuity of service and the honour that binds the RAR's soldiers together.
