The Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation is working incredibly hard to help provide much-needed food, medication, and on the ground support to those helping the innocent animals being impacted by war in Ukraine.

Animals in Ukraine are being displaced as their owners flee the conflict zone into Poland at a staggering rate. Once owners arrive to safety beyond the conflict zones, food and medication are hard to find for the beloved animals that have accompanied them on their journey.

AWAMO has created the Australian Animal Aid to help the animals of Ukraine.

The Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation Inc. (AWAMO), have a container load of food and medication supplies which will be shipped to Poland to help those arriving there meet these needs. The AWAMO is working with a number of Polish NGOs, as advised by the Polish Embassy, including UPAW.

UPAW coordinates local run animal welfare groups which deliver aid across Ukraine. They also aid displaced or rescued animals sheltered in Poland.

In addition to supporting those with animals who have arrived in Poland, AWAMO has also become aware of the horrifying strife of many animals that remain in Ukraine. Across Ukraine, animals in zoos and farms have been forced to be left behind and are starving and dying. To help save these animals affected by war, AWAMO will also be purchasing fodder and other fresh food and essentials that will be delivered directly to these areas, including the Bear Sanctuary in the southern region of Ukraine.

Donations directly support lifesaving work to protect the animals of Ukraine. Funds are currently being used to transport both a shipping container to Poland and internal transportation throughout Ukraine. In addition, two AWAMO representatives will go to supervise the distribution of emergency food relief to the areas that are most in need.

Hear from AWAMO President Nigel Allsopp about this important project.

AWAMO has also expressed its thanks to the team at ORBIT Logistics Pty Ltd- Victoria for their amazing support in getting the Australian Animal Aid container to Poland. AWAMO have also thanked their long-time supporter, Petstock – Petspiration Group. Without their support, the project to save Ukrainian displaced animals would not be possible. EZYDOG has also been instrumental in helping with product support for AWAMO and Cameron Interstate Transport has begun transporting items at no cost to support the efforts.
