“I am very proud to be part of the RSL, I feel very privileged to be part of the league, it was the first veteran support organisation established to provide advocacy and on the ground support to our return service men and women and their families.” says Sam.

“I receive letters from veterans who have been touched by the RSL every week. They share their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the support we provide to both them and their loved ones through national such as support packs, well-being programs, emotional support and outreach services, advocacy, and financial assistance during times of need.

“Every message touches me personally and gives me assurance that the work the RSL does is relevant, meaningful and having an impact in the community. For over 100 years, we have reached and touched hundreds of individuals across the country through the grants we provide for education to the commemoration events we pioneer to recognise veterans past and present.

“We could not reach and deliver these programs on a national scale without the help of our dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly every year around the country to support our veterans. They are passionate about the work they do and demonstrate their dedication by giving up their time to support the work of the RSL.

“This year we are celebrating the tenure of the RSL in Australia, and post the recent draw down of personal from the most recent conflicts it is more important than ever that we find new programs and initiatives to help the new generation of veterans with their transition back into their communities.

“We are an active partner in the Prime Minister’s veterans jobs initiative, which will help the new generation of veterans transition into the workforce post their release from the ADF.

“We will continue to work in collaboration with Federal Government and other ESO’s to find new and innovative ways to assist the new cohort of young veterans with the sometimes difficult journey back to civilian life.”
